American Cancer Society | Hope Lodge

The Hope Lodge is a facility of the American Cancer Society, and as a Foundation, we have an area within this space to support patients.
Free temporary lodging service, currently located in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico since 2013 and previously located in Santurce since 1994.
The only American Cancer Society-affiliated boarding facility in the nation for children with cancer, providing them with accommodations close to their treatment centers. A home away from home that allows them to be surrounded by loved ones, connect with other pediatric patients going through the same process, and offers the comforts families need in these circumstances.
The Family Corner is a space at Hope Lodge designed for children's enjoyment, with a variety of board games, a computer, a television, movies, and crafts. This room invites families to share special moments and create unforgettable smiles.
Art therapy is a therapy that involves the use of art, in which patients discover their artistic abilities while relaxing.
Art therapy is a therapeutic treatment that uses art and background music chosen by the patients. The coordinator or volunteers meet with the patient and guide them in creating their artwork. The goal is for patients to feel relief, relax, have fun, and discover the artist within themselves. Their faces of satisfaction and joy say it all.
La Frisita de Amor de la Fundación Dr. Petión Rivera tiene un significado muy especial. No solo abriga al paciente, sino que, de manera simbólica, le transmite amor, oración y bendiciones. Al llegar al Hope Lodge de la Asociación Americana Contra el Cáncer de Puerto Rico, el paciente recibe la Frisita e inmediatamente entra a una cadena de oraciones elevadas por su vida, bienestar, fortaleza y sanación.
